Mold killer is applied by spraying directly onto the area of mold and will also penetrate the surrounding areas, breaking down the mold cells and destroying the spores that are within the surface layers. Mold remediation using mold killer is the preferred method for many people because of its ease of application. Mold killer can also be used on painted areas to effectively break down the paint and prevent it from re-appearing.

Mold can be cleaned in-home. This type of remediation is done by hiring a trained, certified professional to clean the affected areas, and will often include the use of specialized mold cleaners and/or mold spores removers. Mold cleaned or treated inside a home will often have less serious allergic reactions than treating mold found outdoors. However, people with allergies to mold should be monitored when cleaning inside a home as some molds are known to produce allergens with potential toxic effects. For persons with severe allergies, it is always wise to consult a physician before undergoing any type of mold remediation.
